Credit unions ramping up for September Hike the Hill

We hope you're planning to join us in Washington, D.C., Sept. 18–20, for Cornerstone Credit Union League's annual Hike the Hill, a prime opportunity to advocate for the advancement and sustainability of credit unions, protection of our tax status, and a significant decrease in regulatory burdens. Specifically, when meeting with your legislators, you'll be able to discuss:
- HR 3182, the CECL Consumer Impact and Study Bill of 2019;
- Data security, passing legislation so all industries protect consumer data and privacy; and
- National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to keep military bases free from for-profit financial institutions and predatory lenders.
At this year's Hike, our guest speaker will be Ed Wilson, partner at Venabale LLP, who will discuss cannabis banking. You'll also network with your colleagues at a special Welcome Reception and meet with CFPB Director Kathy Kraninger on Friday, Sept. 20 to discuss how CFPB rules affect your credit union and your members.
Hike the Hill is also one of the most economical government relations events that Cornerstone hosts. As in years past, we'll be lodging at the Mayflower Hotel, and you'll receive the discounted block rate when you book your room by Aug. 20.
