FiCEP–Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor

FiCEP is an enhanced and unique training program for credit union staff looking to assist and empower members to improve their financial well-being. Upon completion, graduates become Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors (CCUFC). This program combines the convenience of a self-study program with group hands-on learning.

Important Dates

  • Registration deadline: April 29
  • Program start: June 20
  • Midpoint Review: Aug. 18
  • Final Review: Oct. 12
  • Virtual testing dates: Oct. 18 and 19

Program Components

One book and one exam cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to Financial Counseling
  • Financial Counseling Essentials
  • Special Issues in Financial Counseling
  • Using Communication Skills During Financial Counseling
  • Taxes, Insurance, and Investments
  • Controlling Living Expenses
  • Money, Attitudes, and Behaviors
  • Retirement and Personal Financial Preparedness


Group Training and Support

The cost to participate for CUNA member CUs is $600 per student which includes:

  • Access to the student FiCEP Portal, with webinars and study guides
  • Live review session via Zoom
  • Book and exam
  • Virtual proctoring using a video-ready device such as a laptop, computer, tablet, smartphone

If 2 students share a book, the second student pays $200. Sharing is 2 users to 1 purchase ratio only.

The cost for non-member CUNA CUs is $1,242 per student. If 2 students share a book, the second student pays $200. Sharing is 2 users to 1 purchase ratio only.

Credit Unions with the CUNA Bundle pay $200 per student.
