FiCEP–Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor

FiCEP is an enhanced and unique training program for credit union staff looking to assist and empower members to improve their financial well-being. Upon completion, graduates become Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors (CCUFC). This program combines the convenience of a self-study program with group hands-on learning.

Important Dates

  • Registration deadline: April 14
  • FiCEP welcome webinar: May 16
  • Program start: June 5
  • Midpoint check-in: July 6
  • Final Review: Aug. 7
  • Testing dates: week of Aug. 14

Program Components

One book and one exam cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to Financial Counseling
  • Financial Counseling Essentials
  • Special Issues in Financial Counseling
  • Using Communication Skills During Financial Counseling
  • Taxes, Insurance, and Investments
  • Controlling Living Expenses
  • Money, Attitudes, and Behaviors
  • Retirement and Personal Financial Preparedness

Educational Investment

  • CUNA Member CUs: $750 per student
    • For those with permanent access to a 5th-edition textbook, you may register under the “no textbook” option for $350.
  • Non-CUNA Member CUs: $1,500 per student
  • CUs with CUNA Bundle: $250 per student

Costs include:

  • Access to the student FiCEP Portal, with webinars and study guides
  • Live review session via Zoom
  • 5th-edition textbook and exam
  • Virtual proctoring using a video-ready device such as a laptop, computer, tablet, smartphone
