Faster Payments Council ED to lead panel discussion at Economic & Payments Forum

Posted: Jul 16, 2019 | Author: Catalyst Corporate Federal Credit Union

Kim Ford, the newly hired executive director of the Faster Payments Council, will be a featured panelist during a breakfast “listening” meeting on Thursday, Oct. 3, during Catalyst Corporate’s 2019 Economic & Payments Forum.

The breakfast meeting will provide an opportunity for credit unions attending the Economic & Payments Forum to learn more about the objectives of the Faster Payments Council and to ask questions and provide input. Several members of Catalyst Corporate’s staff also serve on Faster Payments Council work groups and will be part of the panel discussion.

The Faster Payments Council is an industry-led membership organization whose mission is to facilitate a world-class payment system where Americans can safely and securely pay anyone, anywhere, at any time, and with near-immediate funds availability.

“I look forward to hearing from stakeholders and hope to provide a level set on what faster payments can mean,” Ford said. “Simply put, we need to answer the ‘so what’?”

Ford was selected in June from a slate of 400 applicants to serve as the first executive director of the Faster Payments Council. Ford has substantial experience in the payments industry and has been actively engaged in faster payment efforts. Over her nearly 15-year tenure with First Data, most recently as senior vice president and head of global governmental affairs, Ford developed deep subject matter expertise on a broad range of payment issues and has routinely served as a featured speaker at client and industry conferences.

“The addition of the Faster Payments Council Breakfast Meeting will certainly strengthen the discussion around this important and timely issue,” said Glenn Wheeler, director of Catalyst Corporate’s Item Processing Operations department. Wheeler is also a member of the Faster Payments Council work groups.

Jane Larimer, the newly appointed president and CEO of NACHA, will also make a presentation regarding faster payments and other payment-related topics during the Economic & Payments Forum.
