The National Credit Union Foundation’s Credit Union Development Education (DE) program promotes credit unions’ social responsibility and development through interactive adult education and professional networking. As a way for DEs to transform their training into community service, the second Wednesday in June has been designed as the DE Day of Service. On this day, DEs across the country complete a project to improve the lives of others.
On June 12, DEs and staff at Tarrant County’s Credit Union put together dry soup mixes, along with recipes to provide meals for local veterans. The dry soup packets are part of a larger initiative to collect new crockpots for veterans. The goal is to not only provide veterans with a meal but equip them with crockpots and recipes to provide hot meals in the future. Tarrant County’s CU is collecting new crockpots at all locations until July 2.
