Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands to raise money for CU4Kids

Credit Unions for Kids introduces two new 2024 events: Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands hosted by the Cornerstone League and Night of Miracles hosted by the League of Southeastern Credit Unions.

Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands

In Oct. 11, credit unions and partners across the Cornerstone region will unite for this CU4Kids celebration. The event features bourbon, barbeque, and auctions, along with live country music from multi-platinum entertainer Russell Dickerson and popular recording trio Runaway June. Proceeds aid over 25 local Children's Hospitals, contributing to innovative treatments like those for Nolan, a patient at CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital in San Antonio.

Nolan was likely born with a microscopic tumor undetectable to the naked eye. Just two weeks after seeing a specialist, Nolan’s left eye was surgically removed and replaced with an orbital implant to keep his eye muscles in shape while he healed. Thanks to donations from events such as Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands, CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital can fund surgical innovation and cancer care, both of which have been instrumental in Nolan’s treatment.

“Credit unions throughout the Cornerstone region have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Credit Unions for Kids, and we know we could do even more by joining forces,” said Caroline Willard, president/CEO of Cornerstone League. “I am inspired by the passion driving this initiative, and I am confident Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands will significantly impact the lives of patients who visit the 25 CMN hospitals in our five-state footprint.”

Night of Miracles

On Nov. 13, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions will host Night of Miracles at the Tampa Museum of Art in Tampa, Fla. This formal gala will bring together credit unions from Alabama, Florida, and Georgia and industry partners and attendees from across the United States.

“LSCU is thrilled to unite credit unions in our three-state region around the mission of supporting medical debt reduction and family financial wellbeing,” said League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Affiliates President Samantha A.M. Beeler. “It’s motivating to see the excitement already brewing for this Night of Miracles with a planning committee of over 60 credit unions, leagues, and CMN Hospitals representatives.”

Since 1996, credit unions partnering with CMN Hospitals through CU4Kids have raised $200+ million locally for children's hospitals. Signature events, like Bourbon, BBQ, and Bands, serve as a major fundraising source.
