The Amarillo Area Chapter of Credit Unions held its first chapter dinner of 2024 on Jan. 9 with a presentation from State Rep. Four Price. The event was hosted at Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, and more than 30 credit union staff members representing
seven local credit unions attended.
Price spoke on the direction of the Texas House of Representatives and how certain legislation affects the members of the credit unions. Price serves on the House Natural Resources Committee, the House Public Health Committee, and the House Select Committee
on Health Care Reform where he can influence and shape public policy on matters directly impacting the well-being of Texans.
Chapter Vice President Quintin Marquez, from City Federal Credit Union, noted how important it is to have representatives like Price coming to local meetings to present political insights.
“We are taking care of members’ finances, so we need to be able to explain why certain laws are in place and how they came about,” Marquez said, “Representatives like Four Price are discussing laws and policies that we encounter in our everyday lives.”
Price is serving his seventh term as the representative for eight Texas Panhandle counties. This is the second time he has spoken to the chapter, the first in 2021. Being a fourth-generation Texan from Amarillo, Price vigorously advocates for the betterment of the Texas Panhandle and the Lone Star State.
