One of the many ways the Cornerstone Foundation supports credit unions in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas is by funding tuition scholarships for SCMS. These scholarships are made possible thanks to donations from SCMS alumni and students, CUNA Mutual Group, and the Foundation.
“We are grateful for the SCMS Alumni Association and CUNA Mutual Group’s continued support for the scholarship fund,” said Foundation Grants Manager Emily Moreno. “We know credit unions really depend on the assistance, and it benefits recipients in a big way.”
Moreno said the Foundation has received many testimonials from SCMS graduates and their executive managers who have expressed the tremendous value of an education that caters strictly to the excellence and advancement of the next generation of credit union leaders.
One such testimonial comes from Robin Robinson, manager for Correctional Workers Federal Credit Union in El Reno, Okla. Robinson thanked the Foundation’s SCMS Scholarship Committee and Board of Trustees for the scholarship of $1,550 toward tuition at Southwest CUNA Management School for her employee Alisha Taylor.
“This scholarship will help Alisha reach her goal of becoming a manager,” Robinson said. “Alisha started working at Correctional Workers FCU in 2012, as a member specialist representative and is now the assistant manager working toward the manager position. Alisha is looking forward to continuing her education and becoming a graduate of Southwest CUNA Management School.”
Robinson added that the credit union continues to support the Cornerstone Foundation and encourages other credit unions to do the same so that others may receive the support Correctional Workers FCU has received.
