El Paso Area Teachers Federal Credit Union Awards 10 Scholarships

El Paso Area Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU) will award a total of 10 scholarships to local students this year.

TFCU will offer nine $1,000 scholarships and one $2,000 scholarship, The Charles Hart Memorial Scholarship, in honor of the late board member.

“We are saddened by the loss of one of our most trusted and esteemed directors, and we are truly honored to name this scholarship after him as it is a testament to the passion he had for education,” said Max Villaronga, president and CEO of TFCU.

Hart served on the TFCU board for more than 25 years. Throughout his 41-year career, he received numerous awards and accolades, including Superintendent of the Year for Texas in 2001.

“We truly hope that these scholarships continue to provide the necessary aid to the students in our beloved community who think they may not be able to afford a higher education,” said Alejandro Yu, vice president of marketing, TFCU.

To qualify for this scholarship, students must be a TFCU member and enroll in an accredited university or college as a full-time student. Applications are due June 1.
