Educators Credit Union (ECU) President/CEO Joe Hutyra retired on April 1, marking 43 years with the Waco, Texas-based credit union.

Hutyra started his career at ECU in 1978 as a loan officer and was promoted to president/CEO in 2008. Under his leadership, the credit union has grown to over $474 million in assets and more than 28,000 members and has expanded its field of membership to include more of Central Texas.

“None of my modest accomplishments, nor the many accomplishments of this credit union, would have been possible without a supportive board of directors and an outstanding staff,” said Hutyra. “I am truly thankful to have worked alongside both during my tenure at ECU. I will certainly miss the relationships I have built with our members over the past 43 years, but I know I’m leaving this credit union in very capable hands.”

Former CFO William Palasota succeeded Hutyra as president/CEO on April 1. Palasota has been with the credit union for more than 36 years.
