This year, Neches Federal Credit Union’s annual Veterans Day 5k fundraiser looked a bit different. Last week, Neches FCU hosted its fifth annual Veterans Day 5k, raising $2,252 to support the Wounded Warrior Family Support program.
Nearly 200 Neches FCU employees participated in the virtual event by running, walking, or cycling. Participants were encouraged to post pictures on social media using the hashtag #NechesWalksForVets. Every donation contributed by the Neches FCU team was matched by the credit union.
Neches FCU President and CEO Jason Landry said the virtual race is just one way the credit union gives back to the community.
“Veterans Day is a time to honor not just our nation’s service members, but their families, as well,” said Landry. “Raising funds for their benefit is our way of humbly thanking them for their sacrifices.”
