Reaching milestones and showing the true credit union spirit

This week’s Leaguer is all about reaching milestones. Setting goals, pushing forward, and achieving milestones are all so important, especially in light of the coronavirus pandemic. These stories show the true credit union spirit and provide inspiration for members and employees alike.

One milestone is the fundraising efforts of the Cornerstone Foundation’s virtual SYNG event. SYNG, a unique, virtual lip-syncing competition, raised $59,000 for scholarships and educational training grants, financial capability initiatives, and emergency assistance for credit union staff and volunteers when disasters strike.

Another significant milestone is the selection of winners from across the region for CUNA’s Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award, Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award, Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award, and Louise Herring Philosophy-in-Action Member Service Award.

Additionally, leaders from Border FCU and University FCU were featured in a recent Creditunions.com article, where they discussed ideas about how the movement can help members and the importance of adapting the core credit union mission of “people helping people” to today’s pressing circumstances.
