Texoma Educators FCU CEO celebrates 45 years

Posted: Feb 19, 2019 | Author:

Louella Williams, president and CEO of Texoma Educators Federal Credit Union, celebrated 45 years with the Sherman, Texas-based credit union. Hired in 1974 as an assistant manager, Williams has illustrated her commitment and dedication to the credit union, its members, and the movement.

When asked what drives her ambition, Williams said, “That anyone in America can be successful. It may take us a little longer, but we should never accept a 'no.' I love being the go-to person to make someone’s life easier, whether it’s financial, spiritual, counseling, or family.”

Williams’ friendly, casual demeanor has become a trademark of Texoma Educators FCU over the years, and she maintains an open-door policy for all. No problem is too small or too big.

Williams has always found time to give back. She serves on the Goodwill Industries North Texas Board of Directors and serves as their treasurer. She has also served on the Veterans Affairs Advisory Board, Cornerstone Credit Union Legislative and Regulatory Advisory Council, and many other boards.

While heading the credit union, Williams also pursued her education. Going to school on a part-time basis, she earned bachelor's and master's degrees, and she graduated from Southwest CUNA Management School.

Williams also graduated August 2016 from The United Methodist Course of Study. She also has a part-time position as pastor at Virginia Point United Methodist Church in Savoy and has served for 12 years.

“I think I have always been in ministry—financial ministry, that is,” Williams says. “I want to believe that we are all called to serve one another.”

Williams has set a goal to reach the $100 million asset mark very soon and must see it through, always looking toward the future of Texoma Educators FCU’s membership. She says, “Exciting times are ahead in the credit union world, and I want to see the changes and continue in the field I love.”

Prior to joining Texoma Educators FCU, Williams worked as a manager for four years at Denison City Employees Credit Union.
