GOTV: Primaries and Super Tuesday around the region

The critical primary elections are about to get underway in the five-state Cornerstone region, and we encourage you to get out the vote (GOTV).

It’s also a Super Tuesday event, March 5, in which more than a dozen presidential primaries are held across the country. In this cycle, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas are part of Super Tuesday, so voters in those states will want to vote early, mail-in, or absentee if they’ll be at the America’s Credit Unions GAC in Washington, D.C., on March 5.

Despite how important these elections are, a large portion of Americans won't exercise their right to vote. But that’s not you! As a credit union advocate, YOU have the power to influence election outcomes. Here are four ways to GOTV right now:

  1. Mark the day you'll go vote—and stick to it.
  1. Challenge your people to get to the polls. That includes family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
  1. Encourage your credit union members to exercise their right to vote. Explain in person or with a handout about the importance of voting for credit union-friendly candidates.
  1. Offer ride sharing or buddy voting. Go in pairs to the polls or give someone a lift who may not have the means (or the enthusiasm) to get to their voting station. And if you have four seats in your car, you have room to make it a voters’ adventure!
