Central Texas Chapter Speaker

On Dec. 12, the Central Texas Chapter of Credit Unions came together one last time in 2023. The meeting's agenda was filled with networking, service, and fun.

Held at Union Hall in Waco, the evening was sponsored by CMC Flex. The evening's service project benefited the Lovely Village, a community that empowers change in the lives of survivors of sex exploitation and trafficking and their children.

Emily Mills, the founder, spoke to the group to share Lovely Village’s mission and to kick off the Central Texas Chapter of Credit Union’s service project: assembling baskets and buckets of household items for the upcoming residents of Lovely Village.

Also in attendance was Jennifer Williams from Baylor Scott and White Children's Hospital. Williams received a donation of $19,793, including the money raised during the Chapter's annual golf tournament in October and the matching funds from CU4Kids.

Attendees had chances to win prizes through Trivia by CMC Flex, several rounds of BINGO, and a raffle that benefited the Cornerstone Foundation.

The next meeting will be in February, featuring Jim Phelps and April Mobley from Cornerstone League discussing advocacy.

Fort Worth Chapter party

The Fort Worth Chapter of Credit unions held their annual holiday party after a series of events to celebrate the season and bring joy to children.

At the holiday party, attendees bought 47 Santa bags, for $1,175 in total funds raised. The chapter also celebrated raising $124,694 in 2023 for Cook Children’s, a CMN Hospital.

Earlier that day, the Chapter brought Christmas joy to over 650 elementary children at Webb Elementary, an ongoing 25-year tradition of the chapter. Chapter members held a similar party for Sam Rosen Elementary with over 400 children the week prior. Santa was there, along with Flowers the Clown, and each child received a goodie bag filled with snacks and toys. Children also played reindeer games. The chapter members treated all school staff to lunch and homemade desserts.
