Young Professional Spotlights: Carrie Haskett & Jared McCullough

Name: Carrie Haskett
Credit Union: Education First FCU
Title: Marketing Manager
City: Beaumont, TX
Q: How long have you been in the credit union industry?
A: Going on six years.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working in the credit union?
A: My favorite thing is knowing that day in, and day out, credit unions are making a difference in people’s lives, not only for our members but in the communities that we serve. Being from an area that is highly saturated with credit unions makes for a lot of competition, but we can all agree at the end of the day that we are here to serve. I am proud to be a part of that movement, and I am proud to represent Education First FCU and all of the wonderful ways that we make an impact. From our “We’re Paying it Forward” program to our Blue Jean Fridays Fund and more, we care about our community.
Q: Favorite movie that you can see over and over?
A: Steel Magnolias.
Q: What is your go-to fast food restaurant?
A: Taco Bell.
Q: If you could sit down and chat with any celebrity or public figure, who would it be and why?
A: Joanna Gaines. First, because she is who I want to be when I grow up! Secondly, I would ask her for all the advice on juggling work/career, being a wife and mom, and making time for yourself. I think that all working moms struggle on finding and maintaining the balance, so any tips are always welcomed!

Name: Jared McCullough
Credit Union: Education First FCU
Title: Project Manager
City: Beaumont, TX
Q: What is your favorite thing about working in the credit union?
A: I love the “people helping people philosophy” and how we are always looking for ways to give back to the community and to better the lives of families, instead of looking for the best way to make a profit. On a personal level, I love how my credit union values the professional development of its employees and provides the resources needed to grow.
Q: Who is your role model and why?
A: I would have to say my mom. After having three kids, she decided to attend college and become a registered nurse. I know that happens a lot these days, but she did it before it was cool! She was always ambitious and always tried her hardest at everything. She has inspired in me creativity and a spirit of not giving up.
Q: Any hidden talents?
A: I play the piano and like to think I am a decent cook!
Q: What is your go to fast food restaurant?
A: Chick-Fil-A, hands down.
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be? Why?
A: It would be cool to teleport. Traveling can get expensive!
