Arsenal’s Robertson wins 2023 Gary D. Parker Legacy Scholarship

Kayla Robertson, collections supervisor for Arsenal Credit Union, has been named the winner of this year’s Gary D. Parker Legacy Scholarship. The scholarship will cover Robertson’s registration fees and hotel accommodations for the 2023 Southwest Lending and Collections Conference, Oct. 10–13 in San Antonio, where attendees will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the event. “During these tough economic times, I want to look for additional ways to help members become more financially stable,” Robertson said. “These actions will help members become more loyal to our organization. I have been promoted several times and would like the opportunity to continue to grow my management and leadership skills.”
With 12 years’ experience in credit unions, Robertson describes herself as motivated, ambitious, and creative. She has expressed an interest in learning new ways to mitigate losses, manage her department, and help members with their financial wellness.
“I hope to gain the tools and networking opportunities to see the bigger-picture impact that our department has on the credit union’s future,” she said. “I hope to gain perspective on how delinquency affects other credit unions and what they are doing to mitigate risk.”
Robertson said she has grown in collections over the past seven years and has been eager to learn new tasks and procedures to help her department. She noted she was one of the first to receive the Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor designation and suggests new ways to help the credit union’s members, while maintaining compliance.
