International Relations

Cornerstone League proudly recognizes the impactful involvement of our member credit unions within the global credit union system. Engagement in international efforts not only strengthens communities abroad but also exemplifies the cooperative spirit that has driven our industry for over 100 years.
By partnering with global credit union organizations, our members are fostering financial inclusion and contributing to sustainable growth across borders. Together, we are building a brighter financial future for individuals and communities around the world—one that reflects the true power of cooperation and mutual success.

Chapters and CUs celebrate International Credit Union Day
Across the region on Oct. 20, Cornerstone-member credit unions and chapters celebrated International Credit Union Day. Here are a few samples of the fun and festivities, including two excellent video submissions.
Fort Worth Chapter brings in ICU Day with a party
The Fort Worth Chapter of Credit Unions held a grand get-together at Rahr and Sons Brewing Company in Fort Worth to celebrate International Credit Union Day.

Along with live music, assorted drinks, and several food trucks, the chapter added the World Council of Credit Union’s “Empower Your Financial Future with a Credit Union” logo to labels, which they affixed to jars of homemade jams and sauces. People networked, danced to the music, ate dinner, and just enjoyed the show.
Wright Patman Chapter celebrates with ICU Day dinner and donations
Patricia Cunningham, vice president of marketing for RRCU said the Wright Patman Chapter has a tradition of presenting donations at its ICU Day dinner to Shop with a Cop, a program that pairs underprivileged children with a police officer who helps them buy Christmas gifts. The chapter gave $500 to the police departments of Texarkana, Texas, Texarkana, Ark., and Atlanta, Texas.
This year’s guest speaker was Angela Coston, founder of “For the Sake of One,” an organization that helps bridge the gap for children placed in foster care who often are taken right from school to their foster home. For the Sake of One makes the transition easier by providing such things as formula, diapers, clothing, and car seats. The chapter presented a $1,000 check to the nonprofit.
