The advocacy prowess of Oklahoma credit unions was evident on Tuesday, Aug. 17, as local industry leaders conducted two separate meetings with members of Oklahoma’s congressional delegation.

Credit Union National Association and National Association of Federal Credit Unions joined with a group of financial trade associations, including the American Bankers Association, to request the Federal Reserve withdraw its proposal to amend Regulation II unless modified.

Across the credit union system, auto loan growth has flattened in recent years. Consumer preferences, economic conditions, competition, and technology has been shifting since long before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

University Federal Credit Union, Austin’s largest locally owned financial institution, has named Michael Crowl as president, a newly created executive role at the 85-year-old, not-for-profit cooperative with $7.5 billion in assets.
