Credit Union of America Awards More Than $50,000 to Kansas Teachers

Credit Union of America recently awarded $50,100 in Teach, Grow, and Inspire the Future grants to 54 Kansas educators, helping fund classroom projects that will create new learning opportunities for students across the state.

The spring 2026 grants will support educator-led projects focused on literacy, STEM, music, art, career readiness, sensory learning, and other areas designed to strengthen learning, increase engagement, and create meaningful classroom experiences. This year’s spring application period drew 125 proposals from educators across Kansas, with recipients selected through an anonymous review process conducted by a panel of Credit Union of America employees and retired educators.

Since the TGIF grant program launched in 2000, Credit Union of America has awarded grants to 1,228 Kansas teachers and contributed more than $655,000 to support classroom projects, supplies, and educational experiences.

The 2026 recipients represent schools across Wichita, private schools in the area, and community markets throughout Kansas, with projects ranging from hydroponics towers and coding tools to literacy instruction, sensory regulation spaces, band preparation, and student-led marketing programs.

Through continued support of teachers and students, Credit Union of America is helping bring practical resources into classrooms while reinforcing its long-standing commitment to education and the communities it serves.

Texans CU Breaks Ground on New McKinney Branch

Texans Credit Union recently broke ground on a new branch in McKinney, its first newly built location in nearly two decades. The freestanding branch, located at West University Drive and Bois D’Arc Road, is expected to open in early 2027 and will bring the credit union’s footprint to 15 locations.

The project comes during a period of continued momentum for Texans Credit Union, which reported 7.5% organic membership growth in 2025, double the industry average. Over the past five years, the credit union’s membership has grown by 26%.

“The upgrades we’ve made to digital and personal experiences in recent years have enabled us to grow sustainably and expand thoughtfully,” said David Frazier, president/CEO of Texans Credit Union. “McKinney continues to experience tremendous growth, and our expanded presence means more North Texas families will have access to a financial institution that’s genuinely invested in their success.”

The new branch will offer the full range of banking, lending, and investment services available to Texans members, including the credit union’s first-time homebuyer mortgage program, designed to help members purchase a home with little to no money down. Texans also highlighted newer offerings such as its Texans Two-Step checking account, which links checking with a high-yield savings account.

In the past year, the credit union said it returned more than $30 million to members through better rates, reduced fees, and dividends. As McKinney and the surrounding region continue to grow, Texans’ expanded presence signals an ongoing commitment to meeting members where they live and work.
