Scott Richardson of Bentonville and Rep. Zack Gramlich of Fort Smith.
Kansas
The Kansas Advocacy team continues to build relationships with lawmakers and prepare for the 2027 legislative session. Recent activities include advocacy training in Topeka, Sporting Match for PAC, and PAC at the Ballpark, providing opportunities for credit union advocates to connect with elected officials, and strengthen the credit union voice across the state.
Missouri
Missouri credit union advocates are looking ahead to the 2027 legislative session while monitoring the Sept. 16 veto session, November elections, and upcoming Senate leadership changes. The Missouri Governmental Affairs Committee is also working to establish legislative priorities for 2027, while recent events such as the St. Louis Chapter Legislative Reception have provided opportunities for credit union professionals to connect directly with lawmakers and strengthen relationships. CUPAC continues its bipartisan engagement in state races, and credit unions can support those efforts at Pull for PAC on Sept. 25 in Columbia.
Oklahoma
Oklahoma credit unions recently celebrated the ceremonial signing of SB 2067, the Protection of Vulnerable Adults from Financial Exploitation Act, anti-fraud legislation spearheaded by credit unions to help detect and prevent financial exploitation. Meanwhile, Oklahoma held its Aug. 25 runoff primary elections, setting the field for several statewide races ahead of the Nov. 3 general election.
Texas
Texas credit union leaders recently hosted U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions at UFCU headquarters in Austin for a discussion on key credit union issues. Separately, a conversation that began during Cornerstone’s Hike the Hill led to credit unions joining U.S. Rep. Nathaniel Moran for a discussion on financial fraud, with the collaboration expected to lead to three community fraud prevention events by year-end.
