Kansas and Missouri Credit Unions Strengthen Advocacy Efforts

Kansas Advocacy Workshop

On Aug. 13, Cornerstone hosted a regional advocacy workshop at Envista Credit Union in Topeka, Kansas. Representatives from Envista Credit Union, Mazuma Credit Union, Azura Credit Union, Kstate Credit Union, and CommunityAmerica Credit Union attended.

The workshop provided an opportunity to educate credit union professionals on the history and importance of credit union advocacy, Cornerstone’s government relations structure, and the role advocates play in advancing credit union priorities. Attendees also learned about grassroots opportunities and ways to support political advocacy through PAC participation.

The workshop helped equip credit union professionals with tools and information to become more engaged advocates and effectively communicate the credit union difference to policymakers.

Missouri Legislative Reception

In Missouri, the St. Louis Chapter of Credit Unions hosted a legislative reception that brought credit union professionals and state lawmakers together for an evening of relationship-building and advocacy.

The reception drew 50 credit union professionals representing 10 credit unions, along with 14 legislators. Attendees had the opportunity to connect directly with lawmakers, strengthen relationships, and highlight the important role credit unions play in serving their members and communities.

Events like the legislative reception provide credit union advocates with valuable opportunities to build relationships with elected officials and ensure the credit union perspective remains part of policy discussions in Missouri.
