Cornerstone Region Celebrates ICU Day with Joy and Purpose

Thu October 23, 2025

Credit unions across the globe celebrated the 77th annual International Credit Union (ICU) Day last week with volunteer events, open houses, awareness campaigns, and more. This year’s theme, “Cooperation for a Prosperous World,” underscored the power of working together to create shared success.

Cornerstone member credit unions were no exception. From providing treats in the lobby to delivering community donations, each celebration showcased the deep connection between credit unions and the members they serve.

In San Antonio, Texas, Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union’s Investment Group visited the University Health Women’s and Children’s Hospital to donate boxes filled with stuffed animals, toys, books, and other gifts for young patients.

In El Paso, Raiz Federal Credit Union branches offered giveaways and “local surprises.” Members could choose between vouchers for a free chicken sandwich or tickets to an El Paso Rhinos hockey game.

“This day is about our members — the teachers, nurses, soldiers, small business owners, and families who make up the heart of Raiz,” said President/CEO Max Villaronga. “Every loan we approve and savings account we open is aimed at helping individuals achieve stability and confidence. ICU Day serves as a reminder of our mission.”

In Oklahoma, Communication Federal Credit Union celebrated with “snacks, smiles, and plenty of credit union spirit.” In a recent LinkedIn post, the credit union shared: “We’re proud to honor this special day and the people who make our credit union community so strong.”

The day may have passed, but its message endures — a reminder of the cooperative spirit that continues to inspire and strengthen the credit union movement every day.
