Security Service Federal Credit Union Invests in Future Growth

Security Service Federal Credit Union has purchased the former Sunoco corporate campus near The Rim in San Antonio as the credit union expands its operations. The property includes approximately 275,000 square feet of office space, and employees currently based at Security Service’s La Cantera office are expected to relocate there. The additional space will also provide capacity for future growth and greater employee collaboration.

The acquisition represents another investment in the San Antonio community, where Security Service has operated for 70 years. The credit union has not announced a relocation timeline or disclosed the purchase price.

“This is an investment in our people, our future, and the community we’ve proudly called home for 70 years,” said Security Service President/CEO Michael Chapman. He added that the additional capacity will help the credit union grow, collaborate, and better serve members.

Mainstreet Credit Union Expands Operations and Member Resources

Mainstreet Credit Union plans to open a new operations center in Lenexa, Kan., in October, bringing together departments currently spread across multiple locations. The credit union expects the move to strengthen collaboration and provide additional space as the organization grows.

Mainstreet will also relocate its Lenexa branch to 9500 Lackman Road following renovations expected to be completed around the end of the year. The new branch will feature private financial consultation areas as well as rooms for financial wellness classes and workshops. Mainstreet also plans to make those spaces available to community groups and organizations.

“As a growing credit union, we found the existing Lenexa headquarters and branch could no longer support our mission and vision for the future,” said CEO Bob Mayes. The new facilities are intended to support financial education, community outreach, and personalized member service.

Wellby Financial Moves Forward With New Headquarters

Wellby Financial Credit Union is moving forward with plans for a new five-story headquarters near Baybrook Mall in Friendswood, Texas. Regulatory filings describe a 102,246-square-foot building with an estimated construction cost of $42.53 million.

Construction is scheduled to begin Oct. 1, with completion projected for October 2028.

The headquarters is part of a larger development on 9.5 acres Wellby acquired in 2024.

The project also includes a three-tier parking garage, while Wellby’s existing Clear Lake headquarters and branch near NASA’s Johnson Space Center will remain in operation. The credit union has said the new headquarters is being designed to encourage employee collaboration and relationship-building while accommodating continued growth.

“This land acquisition is a strategic investment that will directly benefit our current and future members,” President/CEO Marty Pell said when Wellby announced the property acquisition in 2024.
