The Texas Credit Union Association, a part of Cornerstone League, is pleased to announce Micah Cavanaugh as its new executive director. Cavanaugh brings extensive experience in Texas politics and public policy, previously serving as executive director of the Republican Party of Texas and as chief of staff to former U.S. Rep. Ron Wright in Washington, D.C. Cavanaugh also served as chief of staff to two members of the Texas House in Austin and is a veteran of several state and local campaigns.

“Micah is a proven public affairs professional with a wealth of experience and deep, longstanding political relationships that he brings to our Texas advocacy team. He will be a great asset for the movement in Texas and in Washington,” said Mark Seale, Cornerstone’s SVP of Advocacy, noting that TXCUA’s combined internal and external lobbying teams have strong ties to both parties in the Lone Star State.

Cavanaugh has experience managing legislative initiatives and implementing grassroots strategies and is looking forward to working with Texas credit unions.

“I’m excited to be a part of the Texas Credit Union Association,” said Cavanaugh. “Throughout my career, I’ve worked to bring people together around a shared purpose, and I look forward to putting that experience to work for Texas credit unions. The work we do for our members and communities matters, and I’m eager to listen, learn, and help advance the movement.”

In his free time, Cavanaugh collects political memorabilia, and he and his wife are self-proclaimed “foodies.” The Cavanaughs live in New Braunfels, just south of Austin, and are very active in their church and community.
