Tinker Federal Credit Union Gives Members Gas for a Year

Tinker Federal Credit Union (TFCU) provided practical relief from everyday expenses through its 2026 Win Gas for a Year Sweepstakes, awarding 10 members checks to cover a year’s worth of fuel costs. Winners were randomly selected from eligible entries, with TFCU members automatically entered.

“I was totally surprised. I didn't enter anything; I just have an account,” said winner Terri Andrews of Choctaw, Okla. “TFCU has been there for me my whole life. It’s amazing.”

TFCU celebrated the winners during an Aug. 21 event at its Choctaw branch. The credit union said the sweepstakes was one of several ways it works to provide timely, tangible support for members.

GECU Foundation Matches Support for Local Schools

The GECU Foundation is helping community support go further through its Matching School Impact fundraising campaign, which runs through Sept. 30.

The foundation will match donations dollar for dollar, up to $3,000 for each participating school across El Paso, Texas, and southern New Mexico. The initiative supports Pre-K–12 classrooms, student enrichment, and other learning experiences.

By matching community contributions, the campaign gives participating schools an opportunity to stretch fundraising dollars and generate additional support for programs benefiting students.

WEOKIE Highlights Support for Foster Youth and Local Children

WEOKIE Federal Credit Union recently used its Savvy Okie Podcast to spotlight community efforts supporting children and foster youth.

The episode featured leaders from Credit Union Service Centers and Citizens Caring for Children discussing the Back2School initiative and CUSC Give Back Grant, which help provide foster youth with school supplies, clothing, and other essential resources.

WEOKIE also recognized Imelda and Jeanette for volunteering with United Way of Central Oklahoma to assemble children’s dental kits for Neighborhood Services Organization.

Together, the volunteers packed more than 500 dental kits across seven boxes to support local children.

RBFCU Shares Tips to Help Families Avoid Scams

Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union (RBFCU) is helping families, teens, and college students sharpen their scam awareness as the school year gets underway.

During a recent appearance on We Are Austin, RBFCU spokesperson Mark Wilson discussed common schemes involving impersonation, phishing, payment apps, scholarship scams, fake job offers, and housing scams. He encouraged consumers to slow down when something feels suspicious, independently verify who is contacting them, and protect sensitive information such as passwords, account numbers, and verification codes.

Wilson also emphasized that scammers often create urgency or fear to prompt quick decisions. RBFCU offers additional scam-awareness resources to help consumers recognize warning signs and protect their money.
