Celebrating a Month of Service: Credit Union Volunteers Give Back Across the Cornerstone Region
June is recognized as DE Month of Service, a time when Credit Union Development Educators (CUDEs) and Certified Credit Union Cooperators (CCUCs) put the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” into action. Throughout the month, the Cornerstone Foundation celebrated volunteer efforts, outreach initiatives, and service projects led by DE and CCUC leaders across the region, highlighting the many ways credit union professionals are making a meaningful difference in their communities.
Green Country Chapter Serves at the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma
The Green Country Chapter continued its annual tradition of service by
bringing credit union professionals together to volunteer at the Food Bank of
Eastern Oklahoma on June 17.
Participants spent the day helping advance the food bank’s mission to combat hunger across eastern Oklahoma. In the true spirit of the credit union movement, the volunteer opportunity welcomed everyone, not just CUDEs and CCUCs.
Tarrant County’s Credit Union Makes Service a Month-Long Commitment

Tarrant County’s Credit Union (TCCU) made June all about giving back, with
team members volunteering throughout the month with several local
organizations.
At Northside Inter-Community Agency (NICA), the team helped serve meals, organized clothing for the Community Closet, packed hygiene kits, and pitched in at the Good Works event for local seniors.
TCCU also spent time with the Tarrant Area Food Bank, sorting food
donations and packing care kits for families across 13 North Texas counties.
The team rounded out the month by staffing a booth at the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office job fair.
Cornerstone Team Members Celebrate Credit Unions Care Day
Cornerstone team members also rolled up their sleeves for Credit Unions
Care Day, volunteering in St. Louis, Oklahoma City, and Plano.
In St. Louis, employees purchased toiletries and clothing for The Little
Bit Foundation, which provides students with essentials and school supplies. Oklahoma
City employees took part in a neighborhood Litter Blitz, while the Plano team
volunteered with Children’s Hunger Fund – Dallas, packaging food for families
in need.
Credit Unions Care Day celebrates the “people helping people” philosophy while honoring the legacy of former Cornerstone League EVP/CFO/CAO Karen Hart, who dedicated more than four decades to the credit union movement. Employees from Cornerstone League, Cornerstone Resources, and Cornerstone Foundation participated in this year’s day of service.
Living the Cooperative Difference
From serving local nonprofits to engaging with community members at
outreach events, these volunteer efforts reflect the “people helping people”
philosophy that defines the credit union movement.
Cornerstone Foundation is proud to recognize the DEs, CCUCs, and credit union volunteers who gave their time throughout the month. Their efforts show what can happen when credit unions come together to support the communities they serve.
