Kansas and Missouri Legislative Summaries Now Available

The 2026 Kansas and Missouri Legislative Summaries are now available on the Cornerstone League website, providing an overview of key legislative developments and advocacy efforts during this year’s sessions.

Throughout the legislative sessions, the Kansas Credit Union Association and Missouri Credit Union Association worked to advance credit union-friendly legislation, oppose proposals that could have created unnecessary burdens for credit unions, and ensure the credit union voice was represented at the state capitols.

In Kansas, the summary highlights two anti-fraud measures signed into law by Gov. Laura Kelly. The legislation represents important progress in efforts to combat financial fraud and protect consumers and financial institutions.

In Missouri, the summary covers the passage of Credit Union Modernization legislation, which reduces the minimum membership share requirement from $25 to $1 and expands opportunities for electronic communications and participation. The summary also highlights progress on Safe Harbor legislation, which advanced further through the legislative process than in previous efforts but did not reach the governor’s desk.
