Credit union leaders met with Rep. Sharice Davids during the congressional recess to discuss key legislative priorities and the impact of federal policy on the industry.

During the congressional recess, Cornerstone hosted an in-district meeting with Rep. Sharice Davids at the Azura Credit Union branch in Olathe, Kansas. The meeting brought together credit union leaders from across the region for a productive discussion on key legislative priorities and the impact of federal policy on credit unions and their members.

The conversation focused on several important issues shaping the financial services landscape, including protecting credit card systems, the TRAPS Act, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, developments related to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and reinforcing the credit union difference.

These conversations help ensure the credit union perspective is heard and the industry’s impact is understood. Special thanks to the Kansas Credit Union Association and Azura Credit Union President/CEO Greg Winkler for coordinating the meeting.

Representatives from several credit unions participated, including Winkler, Valerie Taylor, and Jennifer Keim of Azura Credit Union; Bob Mayes and Justin Geddie of Mainstreet Credit Union; Mike Augustine of Frontier Community Federal Credit Union; Deonne Christensen and Laura Eblen of Mazuma Credit Union; and Kaylee Sell of Truity Credit Union.
