Foundation Scholarship Ignites CUDE Impact at Tinker FCU

The Cornerstone Foundation’s mission is simple and powerful: empower credit unions to impact their communities. This month’s story brings that promise to life through the Carol Luebke Honorary DE Scholarship, awarded to Kara Robinson, Financial Educator at Tinker Federal Credit Union, who completed the June 2025 Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) program.

“Wow, what an impact this experience has made,” Robinson shared. “I came away feeling like a true difference maker—ignited by the power of people helping people and what we can accomplish together.” She added that Cornerstone’s Principles & Philosophy Workshop was a game-changer: “It grounded me and set me up for success throughout the CUDE experience and beyond. I’ve now added heart to my hustle, and I know credit unions can make a difference in people’s lives.”

Funded by the Foundation and named for longtime Cornerstone colleague Carol Luebke, the scholarship honors Carol’s four decades of service and her example of “people helping people.” The result is real-world capacity-building at the credit union level:

• Deeper collaboration and leadership. Robinson said CUDE reinforced that titles fade when purpose is clear—collaboration takes center stage. She returned with a stronger network of peers across the movement and a renewed commitment to ask for help, lift others, and lead through cooperation.
• Member-focused execution. Back at TFCU, Robinson is translating CUDE lessons into action, particularly around youth aging out of foster care. She is partnering with local nonprofits to help young adults obtain government-issued IDs—often a barrier to housing, employment, and safe financial services. It’s a practical, cooperative solution with long-term impact.
• Credit union-wide ripple effects. Robinson shared that the scholarship amplified TFCU’s reach by helping two educators experience CUDE, doubling the infusion of new ideas and networks. “It strengthened our understanding of cooperative values, deepened our commitment to serving others, and ignited new ideas to drive positive change,” she said.

These outcomes are exactly why the Foundation invests in professional development—so credit union professionals return to their communities with new capability, connections, and confidence to serve. In Robinson’s words, “Through financial education and cooperative action, we can truly change the world.”

About the Scholarship

Launched in 2015, the Carol Luebke Honorary DE Scholarship first supported Carol’s own participation in CUDE and has since been awarded annually to a professional who embodies her spirit of service. The Foundation will award the 2025 Carol Luebke Honorary DE Scholarship in October to an attendee of this year’s Principles & Philosophy Workshop.
