As a Credit Union Young Professional, your energy, curiosity, and ambition are key to shaping the future of our movement both locally and globally. With International Credit Union (ICU) Day on the horizon this October, September is the perfect moment to ramp up engagement and deepen your impact.

International Credit Union Day: Start Preparing Now

ICU Day is celebrated on the third Thursday of October. It is a long-standing tradition that honors the global cooperative spirit of credit unions, encouraging organizations worldwide to showcase achievements, host member events, and raise awareness of our shared purpose.

As a young professional, September is your time to:

  • Plan an ICU Day Initiative: Organize a virtual member story night, social media spotlight, or a themed campaign that highlights how your credit union contributes to global well-being.
  • Leverage ICU Day Assets: Take advantage of materials from the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) and the Worldwide Foundation, such as posters, graphics, media kits, and even commemorative pins or swag for local celebrations.

How to Get Involved:

  • Join the World Young Credit Union Professional (WYCUP) network: Get into a global peer ecosystem and unlock invitations to events and collaborations.
  • Apply for WYCUP Scholarships: If eligible (40 or younger and endorsed by your CU or association), this program could bring you into the global spotlight and foster transformative experiences.
  • Participate in Virtual Events: Examples include ConneXion or the Affiliates Council. Both are great opportunities to share local innovations and gain insights from worldwide practices.

Don’t forget it’s never too late to get involved and connect!
