What do YPs have to say about their time as Advisors?

Tyson BohananTyson Bohanan: I have loved my time as an Advisor. I’ve been able to grow my network with fellow YPs at credit unions in five states, and I’ve enjoyed learning about how credit unions work together in the region in so many ways. I’ve gotten an inside look at how Cornerstone adds value to our credit union through advocacy and education. Being an Advisor has also been a great way to show my credit union that I am ready for more leadership roles and that I can handle more responsibilities. I would highly recommend the YP Advisor program to anyone who is looking to step into leadership and make some friends along the way.

Melissa BurlesonMelissa Burleson: Since my term as a YP Advisor, I’ve seen my career take off. I’ve received a few promotions as well as a few industry recognitions. The YP program and being an advisor has been a pivotal point in my professional growth. I’ve not only been recognized as the Young Professional of the Year, but I’ve also had the opportunity to be the Young Professional Advisory Director to the Cornerstone League Board—what an experience.

After 12 years in the industry, I still learn new things about credit unions. YP advisors are given the privilege of interacting with industry leaders more than most CU professionals. Once you step away from your desk, meet new people, participate in development opportunities, you’ll learn something every time. This is how we all grow!
