Cornerstone’s Yashewski speaks at NCUA webinar on CU league partnerships

At last week’s National Credit Union Administration webinar, “
Strategic Partnering: A Conversation with Credit Union Leagues,
” Cornerstone’s Regulatory Compliance Counsel Suzanne Yashewski served on a panel addressing:
- The most challenging issues for our credit union members.
- Resources the League can offer credit unions.
- Suggestions to NCUA about what they can offer credit unions.
- What collaborating with NCUA looks like.
While other panelists discussed the rate environment, fintechs, noninterest income, and liquidity issues, Yashewski discussed fraud, particularly p2p, and class-action lawsuits. She also highlighted the challenges small credit unions have and suggested that NCUA directly feed them resources, as most small credit union employees are too busy to hunt them down. Finally, Yashewski talked about the benefits to credit unions of having a regulator’s presence at local events.
NCUA covered minority depository institutions, NCUA’s consumer financial protection priorities, ACCESS, financial inclusion, trends for the unbanked/underbanked, and the CURE area.
The webinar will be archived on the NCUA's Learning Management System following the live event. A Learning Management System account is required to view the archived webinar, and it also provides access to NCUA's other training and educational materials.
