After skipping a year due to the pandemic, the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions resumed its annual golf event on May 4 to raise money for their Children’s Charities Fund. Business partners and 132 golfers participated in the tournament at Wildcat Golf Club in Houston.

The chapter partnered with CU Alliance to manage the tournament. Gross revenue for the event came to more than $57,000. After expenses, the net proceeds available for charity were $41,625.30, which was split between the chapter and CU Alliance.

The Houston Chapter of Credit Unions will donate $29,137.71 to children’s charities in the Houston area and another $2,913.77 will add to the chapter’s Disaster Relief Fund. CU Alliance will donate $12,487.59 to the CU Alliance Dream Educational Foundation.

“A big thank you to everyone who helped organize the event, or volunteered, or played golf, or was there in spirit,” said Steve Gilman, children’s charities director and president of Houston Texas Fire Fighters FCU. “Everyone I spoke to enjoyed the day and the opportunity to meet and see people they had not seen in over a year.”

The golf tournament is one of many efforts in which the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions supports the community and enhances the quality of life in the Greater Houston area. The Houston Chapter provides a collaborative environment for credit union professionals and volunteers to receive education and leadership development and grow credit union community influence.

The Houston Chapter of Credit Unions comprises more than 100 credit unions in the Houston metropolitan area. For additional information, visit HoustonChapter.com. To locate a credit union in the Houston area, visit HoustonCreditUnions.org.
