First Community Credit Union Opens New Tomball Branch
First Community Credit Union (FCCU) celebrated the grand opening of its new full-service branch at 26926 SH-249 in Tomball, Texas, on Oct. 14. The modern facility consolidates the former Champions and Tomball locations into one state-of-the-art site featuring both lobby service and drive-thru access with live video tellers.
“This new branch reflects our commitment to innovation and member service,” said TJ Tijerina, president/CEO of FCCU. “By consolidating our Champions and Tomball locations, we’re creating a centralized hub that offers convenience, technology, and personalized service, all in one place.”
The new branch will also host special promotions for both business and consumer members in celebration of the opening.
TDECU and Smart Financial Credit Union Announce Intent to Merge
TDECU and Smart Financial Credit Union have announced their intent to merge, uniting two of Houston’s most established credit unions under a shared mission to expand opportunity and strengthen local communities. The proposed merger, expected to be finalized by the first quarter of 2026 pending regulatory approval, would create a combined institution with nearly $6 billion in assets serving 460,000 members across 48 locations statewide.
“This partnership isn’t just about growing—it’s about affirming what it means to be a credit union in today’s world,” said Isaac Johnson, TDECU president and CEO. LeAnn Kaczynski, Smart Financial CU CEO, added, “A partnership between TDECU and Smart Financial is strategic in so many ways as both organizations complement each other and bring unique strengths to the table.”
Heritage Hub Federal Credit Union Launches Full Operations
Heritage Hub Federal Credit Union (HHFCU) officially launched full operations on Oct. 14, opening its doors to serve members in the greater Houston area. The new credit union offers savings and checking accounts, fixed deposits, and auto and personal loans—each designed to promote financial well-being through fair, transparent lending.
“Launching Heritage Hub FCU is about more than products—it’s about people,” said an HHFCU spokesperson. “We’re starting with essential accounts and straightforward loans, so our community has reliable, fairly priced options from day one.” The cooperative aims to empower members to save, borrow, and build a more confident financial future.
