Prestige Community Credit Union Names New CEO as Longtime Leader Retires

Prestige Community Credit Union announced the retirement of Sammy Shanafelt, president and chief executive officer, effective Oct. 10, 2025, after 19 years of service. Since joining the credit union in 2006, Shanafelt has helped grow assets from under $40 million to more than $120 million, expanded products and services, and pushed loans past $100 million—all in support of the credit union’s “Live Successfully” promise. Shanafelt has served the credit union industry for nearly 40 years.
“It has been my honor to serve Prestige Community Credit Union and our wonderful members,” Shanafelt said. “Together, with our exceptional team, we’ve built a credit union that stays true to its values while embracing innovation. I leave very confident in a bright future for Prestige Credit Union and know the existing staff will continue to carry our mission forward.”

The board also named Ron Knight, currently senior vice president of marketing & operations, as the next president and CEO effective Sept. 8, 2025. With 23 years in the industry—including 17 at Prestige—Knight brings continuity and a member-first focus to the role.
“Ron has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of our credit union’s values and operations,” said Jason Mauldin, chair of the board of directors. “The board is confident that he is the right person to lead us into the future and continue the strong momentum built under Sammy’s leadership.”
“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next CEO of Prestige Community Credit Union,” Knight said. “Having been a part of this incredible organization for 17 years, I know firsthand the passion our team has for serving members and the community. I look forward to working alongside our staff, board, and members to build on our success and embrace new opportunities.”
Volt Credit Union Elevates Two Leaders

Volt Credit Union announced two leadership promotions: Kerri Southard to vice president of member experience and Stacy Schneider to vice president of marketing
“Kerri’s dedication, insight, and commitment to our members make her an incredible asset to Volt,” said Shana Jahnke, chief operations officer. “She has been an essential part of our team for 14 years, and we are thrilled to see the continued impact she’ll bring in this new role.” Southard recently completed the cuLEAD Academy and celebrated her 14th anniversary with the credit union.

“Stacy’s creativity and strategic vision have not only elevated our brand but have also recently brought home four Pinnacle Awards,” added Vicki Owens, chief administrative officer. “Her leadership has been instrumental in guiding Volt’s marketing efforts, and we are excited to see how she takes Volt to the next level.” Schneider was recently named one of Springfield Business Journal’s Most Influential Women (Class of 2025) and led major initiatives including a new website launch, ITM promotion, and CRM implementation to better serve members.
