The storm damage from Hurricane Harvey was so significant, experts say that recovery is bound to be slow—perhaps months or years, in some cases. But our efforts at Cornerstone will continue for as long as needed. In the meantime, the outpouring of love and support comes from all over the country, including from credit union members.

Trotter Named Director of Lending for Diamond Lakes FCU

Jon Trotter has been named the new director of lending for Diamond Lakes Federal Credit Union headquartered in Malvern, Ark. Trotter was previously vice president mortgage lending for Fidelity Bank & Trust of Dubuque, Iowa. He brings 32 years of financial industry experience to his new position.

Resource One CU Delivers Stuffed Animals to Local Hospital

Dallas-based Resource One Credit Union participated in and hosted the Credit Unions Care initiative, CU Ride, on Aug. 24. The CU Ride is a caravan of motorcycle riders and vehicles that deliver stuffed animals to local children’s hospitals in Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas. Cornerstone Credit Union League, Resource One Credit Union, and other local credit unions joined in the Dallas CU Ride that delivered over 850 stuffed animals to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas.

Fed Releases 'Strategies for Improving U.S. Payment System'

The Federal Reserve System on Wednesday released Strategies for Improving the U.S. Payment System: Federal Reserve Next Steps in the Payments Improvement Journey (Next Steps), a white paper that outlines a series of refreshed strategies and nine new tactics the Federal Reserve will employ, in collaboration with industry, to further progress toward an improved U.S. payment system.

With the hurricane season in full force and so many of our credit unions, employees, and members in the paths, I looked to what I could do to help, outside of monetary donations. During the news coverage, I was thinking of all the credit unions I visited in the Gulf Coast and those I have yet to visit and wondered, Who is “testing” their disaster recovery plan, and who is just now “developing” their plan?
