Grassroots Programs
Cornerstone’s grassroots efforts derive power from the people—you! That’s why we seek to engage CEOs, legislative champions, and related staff with a strong interest in political discourse and action. We know from experience that lawmakers more readily listen to activists and advocates when their numbers are so large that lawmakers find it difficult to turn away. As united constituents, we can make a bigger impact together than we could as individuals.
Become a UNITE Credit Union
While we often boast of the “millions of credit union members ready to respond” to a given issue, the reality is that unless we can back up that statement with grassroots action, our efforts will ring hollow. For this reason, we urge you to join us. Become a UNITE credit union.
UNITE* is Cornerstone League’s new premier grassroots program.
UNITE stands for:

Understand:
- Attend/host annual advocacy training.
N
Notify:
- Enroll in America's Credit Unions' Member Activation Program (MAP)
- Activate your members as needed at the state and federal levels.
- Encourage staff to enroll in Action Alerts (text or email)
- Respond to Action Alerts as needed at the state and federal levels.
- Sign up for alerts in the Action Center or text CORNERSTONE (in all caps) to 50457 and follow the link and instructions.

Invest:
- Based on your recommended goal, as set by Cornerstone League.
- Participate/host a PAC campaign at your credit union (payroll deduction, merchandise sales, candy sales – Texas, dress-down days, etc.)

Target:
- Run Project Zip Code annually (November through December)
E
Engage:
- Establish a legislative champion at your credit union.
- Have credit union representation at a minimum of one of these advocacy events: GAC, Hike the Hill, or state Day at the Capitol/GAC.
* UNITE replaces ROAR and STAND programs.
