Dale Roberts passed away on Dec. 1, in Amarillo, Texas. Roberts began his credit union career as a collector and worked his way up through the ranks with stints in business development, lending, and operations management.
Roberts served the members of PrimeWay FCU for nearly 40 years. He was a former Texas Credit Union League board member, Houston chapter president, and an inductee of the Cornerstone Credit Union League Hall of Fame. In addition, Roberts was a founding member of a group of CEOs that developed the credit union service organizations now known as CU Alliance and Member Home Loan.
Roberts embodied the people helping people philosophy for members and staff. He knew his staff and spent every morning greeting them. He invested in developing people and helping them grow, implementing benefits like tuition reimbursement. Subsequently he developed a strong culture and earned the respect of his team. He was also progressive and always looking for ways to improve service and products.
“Dale Roberts was a leader who empowered others and took pride in their success,” said Annette Zimmerman, president/CEO of PrimeWay FCU. “When I was hired, he refused to run for a place on the board because he said it was time for a fresh perspective. His generous nature inspired loyalty in others.”
A viewing will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, at Brookside Funeral Home, located at 13747 Eastex Freeway in Houston. The funeral is scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, also at the Brookside Funeral Home.
Cornerstone Credit Union League shares its sincere condolences for Dale Roberts’ coworkers, friends, and family.
