The credit union movement has lost a devoted credit union leader with the passing of Dolores Cox. She died Friday, at the age of 80.

Cox’s credit union career began in the 1970s, when she went to work for Harte-Hanks FCU as its president and CEO.  Following retirement, Cox served her community as the long-time director of the Homeport FCU (formerly Harte-Hanks FCU), helping to build that institution almost from the ground up into one of the city’s most valued and respected financial institutions.

She is remembered as a grassroots leader in the rapid growth of Texas credit unions.  She was active in her local chapter and was a tireless supporter of Texas Credit Union League initiatives.

Funeral services were held Sunday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Corpus Christi.
