The Cornerstone Credit Union League’s Leadership Conference & Expo takes place Sept. 5-7 in San Antonio. Credit Union professionals and volunteers are encouraged to take advantage of this exceptional professional development opportunity.  This year’s conference features 24 educational sessions, three general sessions and four best practice panel discussions.

Following are but a handful of sessions being offered at the upcoming conference:

  • Ensure Your CU Hits its Mark by Creating a Culture of Influencers: Featuring Mark Fenner of the Rise Performance Group, this session offers insight on how to increase influence and leadership in all positions throughout your credit union, from the branch to the back office, from individual producers to supervisors, managers, executives, and the C-Suite. Participants will not only learn the value of leadership, they will come away with a vision for their own leadership journey.
  • 2014 Healthcare Reform Requirements and Opportunities – Are You Ready: Featuring Brad Pricer of the CUNA Mutual Group, this session provides attendees he provides attendees with a comprehensive overview of the expectations this law and others place on employers, updates on the status of the regulations and potential upcoming changes, the risks of being out of compliance and practical steps to meet obligations the law requires. Attendees will leave the session armed with tools to assure timely compliance, knowledge of potential changes to reform and its impact, as well as other applicable regulations.
  • Conquering Organizational Life Cycles through Resilient Leadership: Featuring Sandra Tibbs of Neverest Solutions, this session explores the four pillars of Intelligent Leadership: Resilience, Integrity, Accountability, and Responsibility. According to Tibbs, every organization goes through different life cycles. The key to resilient success, she says, lies in knowing the signs of each cycle so you can cultivate the right leadership skills, embrace the persistence of change, and confidently lead your employees and corporate culture into the next natural cycle.
  • How to have an Authentic Branch: Featuring Eric Gagliano of Market Match, this session focuses on identifying your existing brand and determining if it is aligned with your member needs, market expectations and credit union’s personality. Among other things, Gagliano will explain the four pillars of authenticity; walk attendees through the steps to review, define or create their brand, and discuss how credit unions can achieve Disney-style service in their branches.
  • Terrorist Financing: Featuring Tonya Coleman, FBI - Austin Field Office; Dennis May, FBI - San Antonio Field Office, and Shawn Scott, FBI Task Force Officer/Round Rock Police Detective, this session addresses the various roles individuals play in the terrorist financing cycle. The federal agents will present cases, and highlight what financial institutions are doing to help in the struggle to keep money out of the hands of terrorists. The presenters will also discuss the Bandit Shield Initiative; an FBI Crime Reduction Initiative developed to reduce financial institution robberies, and to assist law enforcement entities with robbery investigations.
