Security One FCU is hosting its first ever community health fair this Saturday to celebrate its induction into the Texas Credit Union League’s (League) Juntos Avanzamos program.
The program’s goal is to identify Texas credit unions that are effectively serving the needs of the emerging Hispanic market. When Hispanic families see the Juntos Avanzamos flag, they will know that affordable and friendly financial services are available to them at that institution.
The designation must be earned. To be eligible, credit unions must go through a rigorous application process demonstrating they have the capacity, commitment, and compassion to serve the Hispanic market’s financial needs.
Political activist Dr. Juan Hernandez will join League officials for a special ceremony to designate Security One FCU as a Juntos Avanzamos credit union on March 23 at 11:30 a.m.
“Earning the Juntos Avanzamos designation is such an honor,” says Security One FCU president and CEO Pamela Stephens. “Like so many communities across the country, our city is going through a demographic transformation, and in order to remain relevant, we must be responsive to the needs of our community.”
The Juntos Avanzamos designation, Stephens says, validates their commitment to meeting the financial service needs of the Hispanic community.
The credit union’s Community Health Fair kicks off this Saturday at 10 a.m. All Smiles Dental Centers, Arlington Head Start, Catholic Charities, Goodwill, Santa Fe Youth Services, Tarrant County Housing Partnership, Inc., and Your Texas Benefits are but a handful of organizations that will participate in the fair.
The event also features a bounce house and popcorn machine donated by South Texas Dental; music by DJ Patron; and two ballet troupes: Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth and Huehuecoytl Ballet Folklorico. The performances will be held at 10:50 a.m. and 11:20 a.m., respectively.
