Inclement weather did not keep Security One FCU from celebrating its receipt of the Juntos Avanzamos designation from the Texas Credit Union League (TCUL). In a special award ceremony Saturday, Father Philip D. Petta of the St. Matthew Catholic Church offered the invocation and blessed the credit union for continued success in meeting the needs of local Hispanic families.
To celebrate its receipt of this designation, the credit union held its first-ever community health fair, and some 19 vendors participated, including All Smiles Dental Centers, Arlington Head Start, Catholic Charities, Goodwill, Santa Fe Youth Services, Tarrant County Housing Partnership, Inc., and Your Texas Benefits.
Attendees at the Saturday event were also delighted by special performances from the Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth and Ballet Folkorico Huehuecoyotl. Dignitaries at the March 23 event included Pastor Enrique Gonzalez, PhD, of the Iglesia Bautista Trinidad, Arlington Councilman Robert Rivera, and Dr. Juan Hernandez, a political activist and former cabinet member in the Mexican government.
Dr. Hernandez applauded the credit union for its efforts in meeting the needs of Hispanic families, and encouraged the community to take advantage of the benefits of credit union membership.
“Security One FCU cares our community, and our members come first,” affirmed Pamela Stephens, president and CEO of the newly designated Juntos Avanzamos credit union.
During his presentation at the Saturday press conference, TCUL President and CEO Dick Ensweiler stressed that the Juntos Avanzamos designation is only given to those credit unions that have successfully completed a rigorous application process that confirms they have the capacity, commitment, and compassion to serve the financial needs of Hispanic families.
Being a part of the Juntos Avanzamos “family” means that Security One FCU offers top-quality services to Hispanic members, including:
Bilingual services and information;
Affordable products and services that fit the needs of Hispanic families; and
Important financial information to empower Hispanic families.
The latest credit union to earn the Juntos Avanzamos designation is Shared Resources CU in Pasadena. A press conference and flag raising ceremony will be held in May. Details to follow.
