The last few months, we've shined a spotlight on the growing problem of elder financial abuse and exploitation (EFAE). Whether you've had first-hand experience with the problem or not, it’s out there. It could be happening right now to one of your members. There is something you can do to help prevent it.
REAL Solutions is promoting a new initiative in conjunction with the Texas Credit Union League (TCUL) to promote awareness about EFAE in our communities. Posters have been designed that you can place in your lobbies or use for staff training purposes, and these posters are being provided at no cost to all TCUL-affiliated credit unions as a benefit of membership.
TCUL is offering a generic poster, called "If It's Not Your Money, It's a Crime," and a special poster for May to commemorate Elder Abuse Prevention Month in Texas.
To download the posters, click here.
Each poster comes in three sizes (8.5x11, 16x22, and 22x28). The posters are in electronic files, so you can have them printed out for your specific use.
You can also contact Paula Upchurch at firstname.lastname@example.org, and she will send you the link via email for downloading.
June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, and we'll soon have that poster available for downloading as well.
