Nov. 7 Election Historic for Texas Credit Unions

Texas voters will see two constitutional amendments on the ballot on Nov. 7, 2017, that will benefit credit unions and their members if passed. This is the first time in Texas history that two amendments to the state constitution are on the ballot impacting credit unions. Prop 2 will give home owners more flexibility and options with home equity loans, and Prop 7 will allow credit unions to offer prizes to encourage savings.

'Feel the Difference' Campaign Highlighted in CU Journal

Greater Texas CU Donates $5K to Support CUAid Relief Efforts

Greater Texas Credit Union donated $5,000 to CUAid, the National Credit Union Foundation’s disaster relief system, which raises money for credit union people affected by the recent hurricanes. The check was presented to Caroline Willard, president and CEO of the Cornerstone Credit Union League following a local chapter of credit unions event at which she spoke on Sept. 28.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued an interim final rule Wednesday allowing flexibility to mortgage servicers about when they can communicate foreclosure options to borrowers who have requested communications cease. The interim final rule goes into effect Oct. 19.
