Time to Submit Nominations for National Social Responsibility Awards

Each year, Credit Union National Association's awards program recognizes distinguished credit unions that raise the bar the highest in demonstrating social responsibility, the credit union philosophy, and financial education. The awards are named in honor of three credit union pioneers, Dora Maxwell, Louise Herring, and Alphonse Desjardins, who lived out the core values still practiced by credit unions today.

House Financial Services Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas) made remarks Thursday about his willingness to support the Senate-passed Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act (S. 2155). Hensarling said at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that he’s open to pathways that involve passing S. 2155 and tackling additional regulatory relief in separate legislation.

Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection Finalizes Amendment to 'Know Before You Owe' Mortgage Disclosure Rule

Yesterday the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (formerly Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) finalized an amendment to its “Know Before You Owe” mortgage disclosure rule that addresses when mortgage lenders with a valid justification may pass on increased closing costs to consumers and disclose them on a Closing Disclosure. The update is intended to provide greater clarity and certainty to the mortgage industry.
