In Memoriam: John Arnold
Tuesday, January 9, 2018 6:55 AM

Wichita Falls Federal Credit Union President and CEO John Matthews Arnold, Jr. passed away on Dec. 22, 2017, in Wichita Falls, where he had led the credit union since 2010.

During Arnold's tenure with Wichita Falls FCU, he more than doubled the size of the credit union’s assets and improved its financial stability and profitability overall.

While he grew up in North Carolina and lived in many places, Arnold got to Texas just as soon as he could. Before college, he served two years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He graduated from Campbell University and thereafter served 21 years in the North Carolina National Guard, responding to several hurricanes and blizzards during his service. He retired from the Guard with the rank of Captain, while serving with the 1-252 Armored Battalion.

After his career in the military, he became a certified financial planner and worked for several credit unions before he was hired as the CEO/President of Wichita Falls FCU.

Arnold was very active in the local credit union professional community, as well as numerous local nonprofit activities. John was co-chair of the logistics subcommittee for two American Cancer Society Cattle Baron Balls. John was also very active cooking BBQ for many nonprofit events.
