The Retirement Experience

Research shows that the average American adult is woefully unprepared for retirement and that feelings of shame prevent them from discussing it in a group setting. Cornerstone Foundation Executive Director Courtney Moran and BALANCE CXO Cynthia Campbell have developed a new way to help those members of your credit union.

About The Retirement Experience

The Retirement Experience was designed based on common scenarios for individuals and couples at various stages of their lives, whether they’re in their 20s, 40s, or 60s. The Retirement Experience will enable participants to:

  • Explore the financial situation of a fictional person or couple with real-life problems.
  • Dive into an empathy map of their scenario and, as a group, explore ways they can help their fictional person get to a more comfortable retirement.
  • Apply the process used in their scenarios to themselves.
  • Design and pave their own road to retirement with the included 30+ page workbook.

Credit union leaders: It can be challenging to get members to engage with credit union wealth advisors. They hear the word “wealth” and exclude themselves if they do not feel wealthy. But when they participate in experiential learning through the Retirement Experience, conversations about wealth become easier. A referral to your wealth manager would be perfect for a workshop like this.
