Webinar: Countering Pandemic Related Crimes

This session will focus on countering pandemic related crimes, such as Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) fraud, Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) fraud, and state unemployment insurance (UI) fraud. The session will also touch on current trends, fraud indicators, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) actions, Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions, and the use of cash apps to make withdrawals.

This session will be held through Microsoft Teams. Please make sure you can access the Teams platform prior to the event.

Presenter: Mark Nickerson, United States Secret Service

Secret Service Special Agent Mark Nickerson has been with the Secret Service since 2002. He has served on Electronic and Financial Crimes Task Forces in Detroit, Dallas, and New Orleans. Recently, Nickerson has led the Secret Service response to the Cares Act Fraud in southeastern Louisiana seizing well over $250,000 since April 2020. Mark is also the 2020 law enforcement officer of the year for the Louisiana banking association.
