Financial Women in Texas recently held their fourth annual association conference in San Antonio, and because El Paso, Texas credit unions GECU and FirstLight FCU were sponsors, credit unions had a presence. Representing credit unions at the event were Linda Tudyk and Carol Murray of Express-News FCU.
Murray says the 85 attendees were mainly women in banking, but some worked in credit unions.
“Interestingly, we discovered that some of the women worked for banks, but were members of credit unions,” she notes.
Murray says she in Tudyk had an opportunity to interact with attendees and tout the important role credit unions play in the market space.
“Even though our philosophies differ, we all share the need for extended learning and support for the work we do,” adds Murray. “It was great to meet people in banking who reach across to share common jobs.”
The board of the Alamo Chapter of Credit Unions coordinated the event with area credit unions.
