Cornerstone Works with CUNA and Rep. Poe on Legislative Efforts for ADA Clarity
Thursday, February 15, 2018 7:00 AM

CUNA and Cornerstone Credit Union League have been working on options to address the ADA website issue in Congress. This week, the House is scheduled to consider the ADA Education and Reform Act (H.R. 620), a bill that would prohibit civil actions based on the failure to remove an architectural barrier to access an existing public accommodation unless the aggrieved person provides notice and an opportunity to cure an alleged violation. As filed, H.R. 620 is a good bill for credit unions.

Texas Credit Union Association President Jeff Huffman is also in communications with the bill's author, Rep. Ted Poe (R-Texas), regarding the possibility of an amendment to H.R. 620 to address the website concerns.
